Continuing the artist's fascination with the early 20th century, a theatre was created in the Berlin studio. An elaborate cave system was constructed from a series of pen and ink drawings, transformed into theatre backdrops. Inhabited by young people wearing a strange armor carapace, reminiscent of half modernist sculpture, half insect, they move through the caves. They peer at the drawings or, more often, gaze out at us, the viewer, their expressions ambiguous, leaving us to ponder whether they are thriving or merely surviving.
